Marietherese’s travel blog entry: “We got to Koh Phi Phi Don in much the same weather as we left Krabi in – rain, rain and more rain. We were booked into a place up in the hillside and they collected us from the ferry. There are no roads on most parts of the island so we piled our rain-soaked bags onto a cart which was dragged by the girl who met us at the ferry and she lead us through the streets of Phi Phi village. We only stayed two nights in the first place (would have been one night only we were too hungover to check out after the first night!). It smelled badly of damp, was beside the water purification station which we had to walk past holding our breath and was too far away from the main area. That was enough for me to move out so we scouted around for somewhere else and found a really nice place down near the beach at Ao La Dalam Bay. By the second night in the tree house place our running water stopped working so we couldn’t shower or flush the toilet. This conveniently happened when reception was closed and no one was around the place at all. We checked out very early the next day!! The Princess apartments were more expensive but so much nicer and we stayed there for the rest of our time on the island (12 days in total).
